Your Customers are Online. Are You?

There's no way around it anymore: your business, small, medium or Walmart, needs to be online. An online presence is a powerful marketing and communication tool. When done right, and properly maintained, your business identity online can create a buzz machine more powerful than any print ad campaign or regular word of mouth generators. Why "regular" word of mouth generators? Because with today's Social Web (reviews, video product testing on YouTube and other sites, real time search, twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, hyper-local search results, etc., etc., etc...) the internet itself is an astronomically -HUGE- word of mouth generator. If you can get online, get people talking about you (in a positive way, preferably), and encourage them to spread the good word, you will become more and more easily found, and attract more and more already-interested users to your business. In short, your potential to sell spikes.

It's all a bit overwhelming when you think about it... Where do you start? How do you take advantage of these newer technologies and trends and make them work for you? Can you do it all without giving some slick techno-geek your first born child? And even if you do get as far as getting online, and maybe get a decent looking website out of the deal, how do you navigate the rest of it? How do you get noticed in the throng of other businesses, large and small, that are vying for the same customers? Is it even possible? We think so... In fact, we based our entire business model on it!

We started Bluetoque Marketing as a way to help local businesses in the Greater Vancouver area to do just that -- get online, get noticed, and get cracking. Too many local businesses have no website, or have a site that is extremely outdated in its technology, presentation, and even its information (sites like that can actually work against you). The most common complaint, when we started asking why this was, was that business owners -- especially small business owners -- don't have the time, don't have the money, or don't have the understanding of the modern web they need to optimize their business online. So we got to work. We started by lending our expertise to a few local companies -- friends of friends and all that -- just to see if we could present a fully branded, Web 2.0 website and online marketing package to an average, hard working small business; keep it priced within their means; and still create a profitable business model for ourselves.

It worked -- we were pretty happy about that! So happy, in fact, that we dove headfirst into bringing you a down to earth, extremely passionate online marketing firm (with some offline options) that can either tweak your current website or build you up from the barebones beginnings into a Web 2.0, search engine optimized, social media  marketing machine. We didn't stop there, either. While we can happily do everything for you, we are much more interested in helping you learn to do a lot of the regular day to day yourself. We'll help you understand the tech, navigate the murky waters of social media and search engine optimization, and help you maintain your site and your online identity. Bluetoque Marketing is now open to the general public, and this blog is your resource to online awesome -- in real person talk.
